Hi! I’m Anna McMonigal, MEd, creator of ARTiculate Proofreading Services—a freelance business born from my lifelong passion for reading and writing and inspired by lifestyle shifts during the COVID pandemic. As for many people, the COVID era brought me to a place of reevaluating priorities. As a former educator and stay-at-home-mom at the time school closures began, I quickly put my teacher hat back on. 

 

After creating my own classroom for my son and his peers, I ended up following them back to school when doors reopened to help them and hundreds of other students readjust to in-person learning. My key takeaways from this experience were bittersweet: fulfillment from being able to serve my community and foster children’s growth in an unprecedented time of need juxtaposed with the realization that a long-term return to the teaching profession would not offer the kind of work-life balance I needed. 

 

While pondering future possibilities, my path became clear—to turn my focus to the zeal for writing that had been my constant companion throughout all my endeavors. Whether completing my graduate thesis, teaching in the classroom, creating business reports and marketing materials as a school administrator, or developing training materials as a corporate consultant, colleagues have looked to me time and time again as the team’s go-to writer, editor, and proofreader. 

 

And so began my journey studying editing and earning certification as a proofreader while continuing to support my former students through volunteer work. Now, as a dedicated editor, I take great joy in combining my affinity for learning, reading, and writing with my enthusiasm for helping others achieve their dreams. I strive to help every client find that same joy while we work together to craft a finished product they can fall in love with!

 

When not editing clients’ creative works, my favorite past times are curling up with an intriguing mystery or fantasy fiction book, being my son's #1 baseball fan, and practicing health and wellness through meditation, hiking, and cooking! I live in Charlotte, NC, with my husband, our son, and our cheeky pair of playful cats.
